Hello Saucettes,
Sharing something I have a love-hate relationship with is a bit daunting and as much as I love fashion, I struggle with how the ‘trend cycle’ dominates our choices at times. The whole element of instant gratification, along with how much social media has truly accelerated trend lifecycles, just feels a little off at times, you know? BUT, as much as I love wearing a cardigan and jeans day to day, there are days when embodying the mob wife aesthetic with an animal print top and baggy jeans just feels like me. The thing about trends is that they allow for a sense of exploration.
So, anyways, I thought I’d do a mini dive into some of the trends I'm loving, along with a few notes on how I see them translating into personal style. If this isn't your thing, I recommend scrolling past to check out our girl crush Soui's "I Like Your Style." I also highly recommend checking out some of our previous “I Like Your Style” profiles.
Also, we have a really cool giveaway running with our friends from Sunlit Bay Villas!
until next time,
Zeenat
GROUNDING DARKS AND SOFT NEUTRALS

As much as everyone is ready to say goodbye to sad beige, the truth is we’re definitely going to see variations of neutral colours in the near future. According to WSGN, for A/W 26/27, we’ll see a mix of responsive brights, grounding darks, and soft neutrals as they reflect the need for balance and stability.

“Darks remain important as consumers turn to colours with longevity, being driven by the ‘absence” of colour’. New darks continue to be key for their transseasonal appeal, but we move toward prismic darks, looking to colours that come to life alongside darkness such as Green Glow.”
I definitely think moss green, fresh purple, and teal are going to be around for a while too. On a styling note, I’m going to experiment with outfits in silks, satin, and knits and layering it with grounding darks and more vibrant jewel tones, finish it off with a classic trench coat as we move into the autumn months.
THERAPEUTIC LAZINESS
Technically, this isn’t a fashion trend, but everything in life kind of works like a domino effect, and I can see how this movement could influence fashion too. There’s a growing ‘anti-wellness’ movement brewing, and this whole element of being intentionally unproductive is just the thing we need now more than ever. I have a feeling we’re going to continue to see pajamas and boxer shorts out on the streets for a while.
According to some trend reports, wellness ingredients such as collagen, hyaluronic acid, and cannabidiol (CBD) infused at a fibre level are going to be the next big thing. Data also shows that sleepwear has been consistently outperforming dresses for the last two years.
Styling Tip: To truly embrace this trend, it’s essential to choose pieces with impeccable finishing and luxurious fabrics. Layer with a sleek tank and an oversized shirt, or pair with a classic polo tee for a more polished approach. Footwear plays a pivotal role in completing the look—a bleached leather loafer or classic boat shoes can add the perfect finishing touch.
SHEER BUT MAKE IT BOHO
If you've had your eye on a lace or sheer dress, now's the time to make it yours. Trend reports indicate that sheer fabrics are here to stay, with wisp-thin organza and chiffon making a strong case for a boho-inspired revival. The key to pulling this off is investing in quality lingerie for styling and layering. A contrasting colour—think a bold red bralette, as seen at Valentino Fall 2025—adds an intriguing twist when done right.

IT IS GIVING DALMATIAN
We’re on the brink of a shift from solid colours to bold prints, ushering in a more maximalist aesthetic—especially within the not-so-obvious boho trend cycles. Think Dalmatian, fawn, zebra, leopard, and snake prints. For those looking to tap into this trend, I’d recommend starting with local op shops and vintage stores to unearth some '90s gems that are perfect for reviving this look. Pairing these prints with slouchy denim or Bermuda shorts offers a chic, unexpected way to experiment with the trend.

MORE FROM SAUCE
SUKAINA ARINI, I LIKE YOUR STYLE
What is “I like your style”? It’s the series in which we ask fashion lovers to share some of their favourite outfits and talk us through what inspires and influences the way they dress and shop. Then they nominate someone whose style they admire and so the style chain continues.
Soui’s style can be best described as laid-back and cool with a side of chic. Everyone’s favourite PR girlie constantly nails the juxtaposition of feminine and masculine in her day-to-day looks with her beautiful curls serving as a permanent accessory. We asked Soui about her favourite brands, fashion literature and styling tips.
Who is Soui?
Ciao Sauce, I’m Sukaina, but I go by Soui. I’m a stylist and fashion lover - always have been.
Since I can remember, my biggest passion has been colour-coordinating with my mum’s fits. I was born and raised in Milan, Italy, so naturally, my surroundings shaped my interest in fashion.
Weirdly enough, it was only after moving to NZ that I truly defined my unique style and outlook on what fashion means to me. I’m very proud of my heritage - what’s classic to Milan, but also my other half, Morocco and where I am now, NZ.
By trade, I’m an Account Manager at Public Library, the coolest PR agency in town. Shout out to the girlies I work with – the dreamiest crew and one the most talented in the country!
What do you love about your style?
Feels like a bit of a flex to talk about what I love about myself (basically, hehe), but those who know me, know I’m here for it. I think my favourite thing about my style is how, over the years, I’ve learned to balance comfort without losing the edge and flare.
I love that my fits are easy for work, (a very fashion-forward workspace will do it too) but throw on a pair of heels, and I can head straight to an event feeling 10/10!
At the end of the day, my ultimate biggest flex in fashion is confidence. That is, to date, my wardrobe staple for a killer fit.
Who is your favourite local designer at the moment?
Wynn Hamlyn, hands down. I die for his gorp-but-really-femme womenswear range. He’s nailed the recipe!
I’m also in my silver era, so I’m a big fan of Stolen Girlfriends Club jewellery. Their chunky silver pieces are to die for.
Another staple? Beach Brains. I copped this epic pinstriped, oversized, floor-length coat directly from the designer, and It’s become a forever piece. Also, their Japanese deadstock wool pinstripe shorts? Love styling them preppy - knee-high boots, baby polo tee, speed glasses on ... chef’s kiss.
Love Wixii! Great basics, I have an appreciation of how they style their lookbook imagery as well. Makes me want to buy it all and in every colour, they release it too. Sign me up for all their cashmere and silks.
