Madomorpho Pointe Pump
Modomorpho is a Berlin-based atelier that I’ve been obsessing over for years. A while ago they created lace-up boots made entirely from discarded ballet pointe shoes — a work of art. Although not made from second-hand materials, these heels are also inspired by pointe shoes with a typical gathered toe. The 100% silk satin shoe with a complete leather sole and leather-wrapped heel is crafted in Italy and the ankle ribbons are added on by hand in Berlin. Such a precious design with both delicate details and a sturdy, chunky heel.

Through Shaded Glass by Lissa Mitchell
I attended Lissa Mitchell’s talk at Te Papa last year where she shared a little bit about the process of creating this book. It sheds light on the histories of overlooked women photographers in New Zealand who operated from the 1860s to 1960s. I haven’t come across anything similar before and can’t wait to read it.

Gloria Pillow Case – Nasturtium
The other month I bought a crappy satin pillowcase since I’ve heard they are gentler on skin and hair than cotton ones but I must be a vigorous sleeper because it fell apart after a week. Since then I’ve been on the lookout for a replacement that won’t disintegrate. I had the pleasure of feeling this Gloria pillowcase in person and the fabric is very luxurious to touch. I’m convinced this purchase would improve my quality of sleep.

Flat Knot Ring by Rose Pickernell
Rose is a Wellington-based jeweller combining brutality and beauty. I am a big fan of the knot motif in many of her designs and here it is paired with a ruby, which happens to be my birthstone (this is me trying to justify this purchase). It is chunky enough to make a statement yet super wearable. I would highly recommend checking out the rest of Rose’s work.
